Celebrating our New Courtyard Caryl6verticaledit

For something like fourteen years, we've been talking, planning and fund-raising to rebuild the church courtyard into a more welcoming, accessible and useful space. Construction finally started in late summer, and by lae October the basic structure was in place and usable, so we decided to have a party. On Sunday, November 1 after worship we settled into the new space for a delicious potluck lunch and celebration. Louis Frost, Chair of the Trustees, Doug Nickels, our architect, and Jean Starkweather, Head of the Landscape Committee, walked us through what has been accomplished and what remains to be done. Even better, they were able to paint a word picture of what it look like in a few years when all the new plantings have started ot mature. If you missed this celebration, don't worry. We'll have another one in the Spring, when we formally dedicate this wonderful new space. (Pictures by Caryl Hodges and Oak Dowling. Click to enlarge)
